Several key technical and design combine to transform the already highly capable CTS in the new V-Series. As the current CTS, the V-Series is the product of an intensive development process across North America and Europe, including evidence-famous circuits including a record of performance at the famed Nürburgring circuit in Germany, and millions of miles on the roads.

Record at Nurburgring

In recent tests at the Nürburgring, the CTS-V completed a lap of the legendary Nordschleife in 7:59.32. This impressive is the fastest time recorded by a production sedan that there is public documentation. John Heinricy, director of the GM Performance Division and acclaimed racing driver, made a lap on board the STS-V in less than eight minutes. The car was equipped exactly like a production.

The eight-minute mark has long been recognized as a major Nurburgring milestone, reserved for racing cars and the fastest exotic sports cars. So far, nobody has challenged this record or the performance of the production sedan CTS-V.

Sophisticated technical enhancements

Through the original CTS-V, Cadillac proved it could develop a very powerful sedan high performance. The challenge for the 2009 model was to achieve even greater improvements to achieve better results in all aspects of performance and luxury. Advanced technology plays a significant role to take the CTS-V at the threshold of world-class performance.

It incorporates the reaction suspension technology the world’s fastest Magnetic Ride Control (MRC). This system uses shocks controlled by electro-magnets, rather than mechanical valves, greatly accelerating response time. Electronic sensors at all four wheels “read the road ‘literally every millisecond, making constant adjustments to damping to control instantly and extremely precise movements of the body. This is an especially important benefit for a high performance sedan because it makes the car maintains its composure in any sharp bends, during acceleration, braking and other dynamic maneuvers.

MRC technology first appeared on the Cadillac STS performance sedan and has been used in some of the most admired cars in the world, including the Chevrolet Corvette and a few selected sports in Europe.

The CTS-V also includes sophisticated braking and tire, in cooperation with two renowned companies in high-performance technology: Brembo and Michelin. All four wheels mounted Brembo brakes and include powerful six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear. Michelin worked with Cadillac engineers to develop its acclaimed Pilot Sport summer tires 2 (PS2) for the CTS-V and its 19-inch wheels.

And of course there is the matter of power. Has increased almost 35 percent for the CTS-V, 2009, through a new engine 6.2L LSA supercharged V-8 develops 564 hp (415 kW) * and 747 Nm of torque. The engine develops this power with remarkable refinement. A sixth-generation Eaton supercharger minimizes the added noise, previously associated with supercharged engines, and tightly controls the temperature of the air intake for optimal performance.

Transmission choices include six-speed manual or an exclusive six-speed automatic with the changes incorporated into the steering wheel. It is the first automatic transmission offered in the CTS-V.

Accented design elements

The CTS-V 2009 brings even further acclaimed Cadillac design language, both inside and outside. The V-Series includes all elements of the cabin acclaimed CTS sports sedan, adding some elegant and useful accent.

These accents on the steering wheel, seat inserts and the shifter are elegant to the touch and support the high performance driving.

The integrated center panel is finished in a new material ‘Obsidian’ which also applies to the center console and door finishers. Like every CTS, the V-Series is included in the instrument panel, doors and finishes of hand-assembled center console. The infotainment features the latest technology-including a 40-gigabyte hard drive, advanced navigation system screen “retractable” and Bose digital audio system, also incorporates the V-Series, as well as the ability to install from factory Bluetooth .

The founding member of the V-Series, CTS-V was initially offered in 2004 and sold primarily in North America until the 2007 model year.
