The rental car program will include the new electric model Nissan Leaf, a family compact with seating for five adults and autonomy of 100 miles per charge which will be shown for the first time in Europe at the Geneva Auto Show in March and will begin shipping Japan, U.S. and Europe in late 2010.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance global market will start large-scale electric vehicle in 2012, and to lay the groundwork for this expansion, the Alliance has already formed partnerships with more than 40 governments, cities and other organizations in Japan, USA and Europe, to advance the deployment of electric vehicles worldwide.
This process includes developing comprehensive recharging infrastructure through public and private investment, incentives and grants from local, regional and national public education on individual and social benefits of zero-emission mobility.
“This partnership with Nissan seals the commitment of Hertz car rental with ecological and firmly demonstrates our mission to promote zero-emission mobility on a global scale,” said Mark P. Frissora, Chairman of the Board of the car rental firm.
“With unique solutions as the Hertz Green Collection, which is now available for our customers, we believe in the value of providing innovative mobility solutions to keep the growing demand for green transportation,” he added.
